On Tuesday, data specialist Mark Rittman embarked on a mission to make a cup of tea using his new Wi-Fi kettle. It sounded simple enough, but -- as Rittman had to integrate the iKettle into his already very well-connected home -- it didn't quite go according to plan.

Oh dear.

As the day progressed, Rittman live-tweeted his ongoing struggle.

It was an epic battle of man vs. machine.

Luckily, plenty of people were on-hand with helpful advice.

Even after the kettle had been connected, though, there were still unforeseen complications.

Twitter had a lot of questions about the whole thing.

Finally, though, Rittman was victorious.

Now that is a truly well-deserved cup of tea.
