SEE ALSO:The 5 most inappropriate things Donald Trump said at a Puerto Rico disaster briefingOn Wednesday morning, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson called a press conference to address an NBC News story that claimed he had called President Trump a "moron" and had to be talked out of resigning.
Tillerson met a gathering of media and opened by saying he wanted to address "some news reports this morning." He followed with the usual stuff about how he would stay as long as Trump would have him and he would continue to "Make America Great Again," while touting a few things he sees as the State Department's successes.
And then someone actually asked him point blank about the "moron" report.

"I'm not gonna deal with petty stuff like that," Tillerson said. "The places I come from, we don't deal with that kind of petty nonsense. It is intended to do nothing but divide people and I'm not gonna be part of this effort to divide this administration."
TL;DR, Rex wishes to be removed from this narrative.
But, oh boy, you can bet Twitter won't let him.

Funnily enough, according to NBC, this all went down back in the summer around the time Trump dropped "fake news" bombs at the big Boy Scout gathering and not after Trump undermined Tillerson's efforts with North Korea by — what else? — sending out some tweets over this past weekend.

And speaking of tweets, Trump's attempt to attack the NBC News report resulted in revealing a bit too much about the man behind Trump's social media curtain.
Trump did eventually get up a proper tweet with no errors or duplication.

The State Department has, of course, denied anything like this ever happened.
Go figure.
