Prior to Hannah Brown's Bachelorette season, windmills were known primarily as a sustainable energy
Prior to Hannah Brown's Bachelorette season, windmills were known primarily as a sustainable energy resource and a mini golf challenge. Now, however, they have a more X-rated reputation as the locale of Brown's now-famous sex romp with current Bachelor Peter Weber.
The windmill made waves during last year's Bacheloretteseason and the season finale, where Brown revealed that she initially lied when she said they had sex in the windmill twice.
"I was a little dishonest about something," she said. "Since it’s out there. I did say there was something Peter and I did twice. It was actually four times." The crowd went wild, including Weber's own parents who cheered on their son's sexual stamina.
While this occurred last season, the internet has not forgotten. The windmill has been the subject of memes, unofficial merchandise, and is actually available on Airbnb for the die-hard fan. Weber said in December that he wanted the windmill to "be left in the past," but judging from the first episode of his Bachelor season, he will not get his wish.
During last night's three-hour long premiere, "four times in a windmill" was mentioned so many times that if it was a part of your Bachelor drinking game, you may have the worst hangover of your life right now.
Brown herself surprised Weber and the rest of the contestants by showing up not once but twice — on the first night and then again on the first group date, where she yet again retold the story of the windmill (and now clarified that it was three times during the night and once again in the morning).
Now that "four times in a windmill" has reached meme status, which begs the question as to why. Why is it such a big deal? Is it because four times in a short span of time is impossible? Is it because it's indicative of something about Weber or his sexual prowess? I asked Angela Skurtu, sex therapist and host of the About Sex podcast, for her thoughts.
"The odd thought I had was were they all quickies," Skurtu said. "If you do four quickies in a night, that's a relatively easy task and doesn't seem that exciting to me."
Skurtu then asked the hard questions. Yes, maybe they had penetrative sex four times, but what about oral sex? Was there a lot of foreplay? She said, "I personally think more about how many times did he go down on her and was it a full and interesting sexual experience. Did they enjoy a lot of kissing or was it simply get in and get out, then move on?"
Credit: giphyWeber's Bachelorcontestants could barely contain themselves discussing him doing it again and again (and again) in the windmill — but Skurtu was not so impressed. She revealed that as a sexual health professional, frequency means nothing to her.
The fact that he and Brown's relationship was new may have been a factor, as most people are highly turned on in the beginning according to Skurtu.
And, yes, the windmill itself could have added to the excitement. "Perhaps there was taboo around it since they were somewhat in the public eye," she continued. "There's a level of sexual exhibitionism to the act that probably made it more hot."
As with most things, sex is more about the quality as opposed to the quantity. There is much more to sex than penetration, and those other activities take up (well-deserved time). "I think it would be more fun to have an hour long of good touching, kissing, oral sex, maybe a wild role play or back and forth," Skurtu said. It did not matter whether that happened once or more than once.
For those who think it'd be difficult to maintain that stamina forever, you are probably right. Skurtu said, "I think long term, if each sexual experience lasted a half hour to an hour, that frequency probably won't continue after they've been together for a while."
Brown stirred up drama when she returned to the mansion, and as of now it's up in the air whether she and Weber will rekindle their romance. Whether they decide, at least they (and Bachelor Nation) will always have the windmill.
