Friday is National Sundae Day and boy, do we need it.
SEE ALSO:Good luck, America: You just elected Donald Trump presidentIf there was ever a time to eat your feelings by way of a huge bowl filled to the brim with ice cream, hot fudge and toppings galore, this is it.
Get on your sweatpants and pull out the hugest spoon you can find. It's National Sundae Day and here are a few of the delicious ways you deserve, and perhaps need, to experience some edible joy.
Go classic
Brownie sundaes might be the platonic ideal of an ice cream sundae. What's Gaby Cooking has a version that's probably very close to the first brownie sundae you had as a kid, which is probably the kind you never stop craving.
Go sweet and savory
Half Baked Harvest's Salted Caramel Chocolate Covered Potato Chip Sundae is a mouthful to say. But it's worth it for the mouthful you get to eat. A combination of salted caramel and peanut butter hot fudge sauces seems decadent on its own, but add some chocolate dipped potato chips and you have a next-level sundae.
Go crazy
Sure, freak shakes are actually milkshakes, but when you pile cake, candy, cupcakes, pretzels, cotton candy, cereal and more onto your shakes, can you finally call them sundaes? We think you can.
Go breakfast
How Sweet Eats rather brilliantly toasts croissants in olive oil and butter then puts them in a bowl laden with ice cream, whipped cream and sprinkles. Oh, there's also a homemade red wine hot fudge sauce. You're welcome.
Go elegant
This version is less sweatpants more high heels, but today is a great excuse to try foie gras ice cream with vanilla sabayon and banana gel. This deconstructed banana split at Anaheim, California's The Ranch is a one day special, so get it while you can.
Go baked
Now weed is legal in more states than ever before (though it's not immediately possible to buy legal marijuana). You can make your plans for a treat that includes both your recreational weed and the cure for munchies that are sure to ensue.
Go for broke
No, really. If you get this, you're probably going to be broke. The Serendipity 3 Golden Opulence Sundae in NYC costs $1,000 and contains, among other luxury ingredients, Tahitian vanilla ice cream lacquered in gold leaf and topped with an edible gold flower. The stock market's a gamble, but maybe you see this edible extravagance as a sure bet.
You've had an almost unbearably exhausting week. It's time to indulge.
