We're still getting used the idea of Apple's new wireless AirPods, but one 3D modeler has already come up with an amazing new take on them: Jet Black AirPods.

The designer of the concept is Netherlands-based Martin Hajek, who rightfully asks on his website, "A black gloss iPhone but no black AirPods? Why?"

Considering the immediate popularity of the Jet Black iPhone 7, which sold out in minutes, Hajek's question is not only understandable, it also seems like a missed opportunity for Apple.

However, since Apple's familiar EarPods only come in white, it makes some sense that the company decided to preserve the design language of its headphones option.

Still, the concept Jet Black version of the AirPods is compelling. The tiny green indicator light on the charging case looks even cooler framed in black. And Hajek changed the silver tips of the AirPods to gold, which gives the wireless units an even more premium look.

Apple is well known for its attention to design, so it's hard to imagine that it hasn't considered this option. When Mashableasked about a possible black option for the AirPods, the company would only give us a "no comment" on that front.

Does that "no comment" mean that we might see such an option in the future? Only Jony Ive's secret cabal of design pros know for sure. But assuming they passed on the Jet Black AirPods option for now, let's hope this very well crafted "what if" AirPods concept gets them to reconsider.
