Bumble has taken another step in its effort to make dating apps less horrible: Banning mirror selfie
Bumble has taken another step in its effort to make dating apps less horrible: Banning mirror selfies.。
The dating app that tries to give women the power when swiping updated its rules surrounding photo moderation to prohibit anyone — man or woman — from posting a mirror pic on their profile.。
The mirror selfie ban is part of a larger update to Bumble's photo moderation.。
Also banned are any photos in underwear, any bikini or swimwear photos taken basically not at the beach and any photos of just children, with no adults. 。
Bumble says that the rules bring normal, real-life etiquette to online dating.。
Thanks for signing up! 。
"We’re over online spaces having different rules than other social spaces," the company wrote in a blog post. "The rules that apply in real life interactions will apply to Bumble." 。
"Imagine Bumble being a restaurant where you can introduce yourself to people who pique your interest. How would you dress, act, and conduct yourself? How would you want others to dress, act, and conduct themselves? How would you want others to dress, act, and conduct themselves? Would you wear only your underwear?" the blog post reads. "Probably not. And you probably wouldn’t feel comfortable walking up to someone in their underwear either."。

Bumble says the ban reflects what its user base wants. The profiles that are most swiped left contain mirror pics, the company said, and 86 percent of the profiles reported to Bumble contain mirror photos. 。
